法律语言是一种强制性规范的用语表达，已形成一些专业术语，其意义往往与普通词典的释义不同。今天的一些法律专有词汇分享：

二、结构复杂的长短句翻译

 

1、短句翻译

 

原文：When the Vendee is entitled to determine the time within a specified period and /or the place of taking delivery, the Vendor in question shall give the Seller the notice thereof.

 

参考译文：买家有权在指明的期限内确定提取货物的时间和（或）地点，买家应当给卖家关于这方面的通知。

 

解析：

 

（1）1) be entitled to 有权……；2) take delivery 提取货物；3) thereof= of that = of the about-mentioned matter=of the time and the place of taking delivery。

 

（2）把原文中的这几个词组及介词分析完后，原文的大体脉络显得清楚许多后，对原文的意思的把控和理解进行剖析之后，然后翻译，如果觉得译文表达得不够流畅，可以做进一步的润色即可。

 

2、 长句翻译

 

在法律翻译中，因为法律文件的目的、性质和文体特征，所以用语措辞方面往往与普通英语不同，而往往最困难的对英语长句的翻译，这是因为它的长句中包含复杂的语法结构，从句和修饰语很多，所以需要对长句进行拆解分析。

 

原文：If, after the signing of this Agreement, the Chinese government either at the State, provincial, municipal or local level adopts any new law, regulation, decree or rule, amends or repeals any provision of any law, regulation, decree or rule, which contravenes this Agreement or which materially and adversely affects a Party’s economic benefit under this Agreement, then upon written notice thereof from the affected party to the other party, the Party shall promptly consult and decide whether (i) to continue to implement the Agreement in accordance with the original provisions thereof as per the relevant provisions of the Contract Law of the People’s Republic of China; or (ii) to effectuate necessary adjustments in order to preserve each Party’s economic benefit under this Agreement on a basis no less favorable than the economic benefit it would have received if such law, regulation, decree or rule had not been adopted, amended, repealed or so Interpreted or implemented.

 

（3）所以对长句的翻译，首先需要明确找到长句的主干，即主语。然后，分析长句中含有的修饰语即：条件状语、定语从句、方式状语和目的状语等等。

 

（4）把长句拆分为小短句，然后翻译如下：
